Frequently Asked Questions

While we welcome and encourage you to reach out to us directly regarding any questions you have, here are answers to a few of those that are most commonly asked.

How can I prepare my property for an excavation?

We would recommend that you do what you can to make the area accessible for us. If that’s beyond your capabilities, make sure you let the excavating company know ahead of time what obstacles they may face. You should also move anything of value on the property that will be in the way, if possible.

What happens on an excavating project?

Excavation is the process of moving things like dirt, rock, or other materials with machinery equipment to create a space to begin construction. The process can include trenching, land clearing, and grading the land for the construction and installation of foundations, septic systems, sewer lines, erosion and drainage control, buildings, roads or driveways.

What equipment will get used for projects?

We have a wide variety of machinery and vehicles that could be used for your project, depending on the services needed and project requirements. Our most-used machinery is the excavator. This large vehicle typically has a bucket attached via an arm. It is used for a variety of tasks, such as earth digging, demolition, and handling materials. Our other equipment includes articulated trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, graders, rollers, scrapers, and loaders.

After my land gets cleared, will you remove and dispose debris?

All of our services include clean-up afterwards. After the land clearing is done, hauling away debris depends on what is requested. Sometimes we haul everything away, other times we may stockpile on site, and sometimes we burn.

Will I need to be issued a permit?

Don’t guess – give us a call. Raymond will be happy to personally visit your location. We’ll assess whether a permit is needed and if so, we’ll assist in getting all the necessary documents filed to make sure the work you’re having done is completely legal for your municipality, county, and state of Minnesota.

Are you insured and bonded?

Yes. Schrupp Excavating, LLC is licensed, insured and bonded.

Are you an exclusive contractor?

No. Schrupp Excavating, LLC is willing to work in collaboration with other companies on your excavation project.

Do I need to be present on-site during the project?

Whether it’s residential or commercial, you are not required to be on the work site when project is underway.
